Chipset Northbridge

Most motherboard manufacturers include Northbridge and Southbridge chipset into their products. These chipsets are designed to prevent a bottleneck (slow) in the performance during the computer-intensive activities. The arrangement varies from board to board, but in terms of the basis of Northbridge (also known as the memory controller). In most cases, the Northbridge controls communication between the central processing unit (CPU), graphics processing units (GPU) and memory. The northbridge chipset or the controller is a very important component of the motherboard.

Chipset Southbridge

The Southbridge chipset is responsible for communication between the slower components on the motherboard. In a typical system of the Southbridge controller communicates with the PCI bus, the Real Time Clock, Power Management and many other devices.
