T-Mobile G2

tmobile g2 300x235 T Mobile G2BUILD & DESIGN

The G2 is a very well built, solid phone. It’s plastic with aluminum accents and battery door, giving it a high-quality feel. It’s substantial without being heavy. It feels comfortable to drop it in my pocket to carry around, and I hardly notice it is there.

Screen
The 3.7-inch WVGA (800 x 640) Super-TFT touchscreen is very sharp, and seems to have the right amount of sensitivity. On my old T-Mobile G1, I often found myself needing to swipe more than once to get the screen to change or browse through apps. I rarely need to do that on the G2.

The on-screen keyboard (for use with the device in portrait mode) is also accurate, and I rarely miss a letter, which for me is an accomplishment.

This device also has a sensor near the top of the screen that detects ambient light levels and adjusts the screen brightness accordingly. This works surprisingly well, and only occasionally seems to get dim briefly when in normal light, but usually will correct quickly.

Overall I am very impressed with the screen quality and touch sensitivity.

Keyboard
One of the big draws for me to the G2 was the hardware keyboard. Even though touchscreen keyboards have improved, I still prefer a physical keyboard when doing any lengthy typing. I thought the G1 had one of the best hardware keyboards of any phone I have used, and was anxious to try its successor.

The G2′s keyboard is accessed by pushing on the bottom in landscape mode (the left side in portrait mode), and it rises up and back, then folds down flush again. This is called a “Z Hinge” by HTC, and has proved to be a bit controversial. Many find it too easy to open, possibly a result of some loose hinges in early batches. I am happy to say that I have not had this problem. I can hold the phone upside down and the keyboard does not fall open for me. It only opens and closes when I intend it to.

Although I would rank the keyboard below the one on my G1, it is still a very good keyboard. The G1 had 5 rows of keys, with the fifth being a dedicated number row, which I found very useful. The G2 has four rows of keys, and therefore you have to use the ALT key to enter numbers.

There are also three user-assignable buttons. There is an app called “quick keys” used to assign them. I set mine up for email, messaging, and Docs to Go.

Overall the keyboard is very good, and the buttons have a good feel to them. They are raised slightly and give good tactile feedback when typing.

hypnosis 300x244 Is Hypnosis a Solution to Deal With Computer Addiction? When most of the people hear the word Hypnosis, they will automatically imagine a person waving a pocket clock in order to make another person to act like a chicken, dog or walk like’s zombie or even do action against their will (kill someone, rubbing people).

But the reality is different; hypnosis is a mental state (according to “state theory”) or imaginative role-enactment (according to “non-state theory”), in which the hypnotized person is not in a semi-sleep state but better he is hyper attentive and has absolute free will. This mental state is induced by a procedure known as a hypnotic induction (which is commonly composed of a long series of preliminary instructions and suggestions) or may be self-administered (“self-suggestion” or “autosuggestion”). Braid, the inventor of hypnotism (hypnotism derive from the term “neuro-hypnotism” – nervous sleep), described hypnotism as a state of physical relaxation accompanied and induced by mental concentration (“abstraction”).

In 2005, a new definition of hypnosis, derived from academic psychology (Society for Psychological Hypnosis):

Hypnosis typically involves an introduction to the procedure during which the subject is told that suggestions for imaginative experiences will be presented. [..]. A hypnotic procedure is used to encourage and evaluate responses to suggestions. When using hypnosis, one person (the subject) is guided by another (the hypnotist) to respond to suggestions for changes in subjective experience, alterations in perception, sensation, emotion, thought or behavior.”

According to Freud, the mind can be divided into two main parts:

  • The conscious mind includes everything that we are aware of. This is the aspect of our mental processing that we can think, act and talk about rationally (when you extend your hand in order to retrieve something). A part of this includes our memory, which is not always part of consciousness but can be retrieved easily at any time and brought into our awareness (like a definition). Freud called this ordinary memory the preconscious.
  • The unconscious mind is a reservoir of feelings, thoughts, urges, and memories that outside of our conscious awareness. Most of the contents of the unconscious are unacceptable or unpleasant, such as feelings of pain, anxiety, or conflict. According to Freud, the unconscious continues to influence our behavior and experience, even though we are unaware of these underlying influences (just like when you lock a door but later on you are not sure if you locked or not the door, because our unconscious mind told us to get the key and lock the door).

Samsung Transform

Comments off

samsung transform 260x300 Samsung TransformBUILD & DESIGN:

This model looks like many similar smartphones on the market today, with a large screen that dominates the device and minimal buttons. The corners are nicely rounded, and the case is made entirely of black plastic aside from the chrome band running around the edges of the phone, on top of the keyboard slider.

The keyboard is accessed by pushing the display to the right, and that mechanism is solid and strong–you won’t have to worry about the slide stopping in the middle.

Overall size is similar to most modern phones. The Transform measures 4.6-inches tall and 2.42-inches wide, just slightly larger than the iPhone. Thickness is a different matter; the Transform is significantly thicker due to the physical keyboard. It’s heavier too, at 5.4 ounces.

It fits nicely into a pocket, but you probably won’t forget that it’s there. It isn’t too large or bulky, just not as slender and light as other phones.

Display
The 3.5-inch HVGA  (320 x 240)  touchscreen is very good, but it isn’t amazing. There are larger, higher-resolution screens out there, but these are generally on more expensive phones, of course. I did find that the display has good color saturation, good clarity and contrast, and minimal pixelation when examined up close.

The display is responsive to my touch; I didn’t have the dreaded “tap here, get no response, tap again and again, harder each time” problem with the Transform. There were also no issues with a jumpy cursor or a too responsive display either.
